At Thursday night's Lake Claire Neighbors meeting, our police officer
liaison reported that there have recently been a series of burglaries
along the McClendon corridor. Several homes have been broken into,
typically *BETWEEN 10 AM AND NOON*, through back doors and back
windows. In most cases, the burglar has focused his pursuit on
electronics, including laptop computers. The police believe it's a
single perpetrator and they're actively working on tracking him or her
down.
We live in one of the safest neighborhoods in the City of Atlanta, but
please take precautions to protect your residence. Be sure to lock
all doors -- of your residence and your cars. The police reminded us
that it's not advisable to leave the garage door open or front door
unlocked while we're working in the backyard, etc. If you have a
window air conditioner on the first floor, the police suggested you
make sure it fits into the window tightly.
If you have any concerns or questions, feel free to call the Atlanta
Police department. Their "non-emergency" number is (404) 371-5002.
Of course, in an emergency, call 911.
