The City of Atlanta is renovating the Candler Park Pool this Fall and we need your help. Tell us what improvements you want to see. What would it take to get you to join the pool? What will it take to get members to come more often? The Candler Park Pool Association needs to know! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Friday, July 28 at 6 pm at the Candler Park Pool in Candler Park --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.candlerpark.org/temporary/CP%20Pool%20Meeting.htm The City of Atlanta will spend hundreds of thousands of dollar to improve the Candler Park Pool. Certain improvements are necessary (a new pump, old pipes, etc.). Beyond that, what the community wants matters. The City is willing to hear our voices, but we must act fast. Join City staff at 6:00 PM, Friday July 28 at the pool to learn about possible and improvements and to let your voice be heard! Everyone's invited. Tell your friends! While we gain some much needed improvements, Candler Park is losing a stalwart in the community, especially at the pool. The Bellinson Family is moving to Ohio so that Robin can pursue her PhD. Some one (or two or three) will need to take Bert's place. This is a new chapter for the Candler Park Pool. Be a part of our neighborhood's future. Share your ideas at the meeting. Join the Candler Park Pool Association. Volunteer a little of your time to make our pool, our park and our community better. Every contribution is welcome! Several homes have been broken into, typically *BETWEEN 10 AM AND NOON*, through back doors and back windows. In most cases, the burglar has focused his pursuit on electronics, including laptop computers. The police believe it's a single perpetrator and they're actively working on tracking him or her down. We live in one of the safest neighborhoods in the City of Atlanta, but please take precautions to protect your residence. Be sure to lock all doors -- of your residence and your cars. The police reminded us that it's not advisable to leave the garage door open or front door unlocked while we're working in the backyard, etc. If you have a window air conditioner on the first floor, the police suggested you make sure it fits into the window tightly. If you have any concerns or questions, feel free to call the Atlanta Police department. Their "non-emergency" number is (404) 371-5002. Of course, in an emergency, call 911. ************************** On a happier note, have you seen our new LAKE CLAIRE BANNER? Visit www.lakeclaire.org for a color image and order form. The resident was in her car stopped at the light and a man was pacing at the corner, talking on his cell phone, and waving to get her attention. He asked the woman which direction Emory Village was and said that his daughter had been air medevac'ed to Egleston and he needed to get there asap. He started to approach the woman's car and she took off because the encounter was strange -- no one else was around at that hour of the morning and it wasn't clear where he had come from, if he had a car, or why he would not have called for a taxi or 911 himself. SUSPECT IDENTIFICATION: The man was very well dressed, wearing khaki pants, a yellow polo shirt, about 6'2", trim, glasses, a mustache and balding center with short hair along the sides, and was African American with a light complexion. 2. Approx. 8:00 PM, Monday, 9/18 on the Frazer Center driveway/road between the extra parking area (and foot path into the woods) and South Ponce. Approximately midway on the road, out of nowhere, the same man appeared, wearing white tennis-type shorts, a white shirt and sneakers, asking the identical opening line, "Which direction to the Emory Village?" This time the resident was with her husband and leashed dog and they turned quickly away and exited to Ponce. 3. LCN also learned that another woman started to give a ride to a man fitting the same description and he accepted $20 and got out of her car. Please report any strange incidents involving the suspect in question immediately to the police.
