Councilmember Natalyn Mosby Archibong and DeKalb County Commissioner
Larry Johnson will host :
5th Annual Focus Upon Senior Services (F.U.S.S.) seminar on Saturday
March 11, 2006. This seminar will provide senior citizens with an
opportunity to learn more about Medicare Part D: prescription Drug Plan
from a panel of experts.
The panelist include: Linda Bravo (Social Security
Administration), Rhonda Hunter (Center For Medicare and Medicaid
Services) and Lisa Federico (Georgia Cares). These experts will provide
an overview of the new prescription drug plan, and will be available to
answer individual questions.
This year’s F.U.S.S. seminar will continue to include information for
seniors regarding Senior Citizens' exemptions. In addition, the DeKalb
and Fulton County's Tax Commissioners' offices will accept homestead
exemption applications at the seminar. The DeKalb and Fulton County Chief
Appraisers' Office, and the City of Atlanta's Water and Solid Waste
Departments will be in attendance to provide information regarding senior
citizens’ discounts. Seniors will also receive vital information from
Metro Fair Housing Services of Atlanta, DeKalb County Senior Services,
and the Fulton-Atlanta Community Action Authority (FAACA).
Any District 5 senior citizen, who is interested in finding out about
their eligibility for homestead and city services exemptions, should plan
to attend this meeting. To determine your eligibility, you must be 65
years of age or older, and you must bring the following documents: proof
that you are the occupant of the property for which you are seeking an
exemption, proof of age, proof of income, and a statement of income
received.
Please do not miss this valuable opportunity to join Councilmember
Archibong in making a "F.U.S.S." about the services available to our
beloved senior citizens. The event will be held from 11:00a.m. -2:00p.m,
at the Drew Charter School, 301 East Lake Blvd., Atlanta, GA 30317. Feel
