Harold Avenue Greenspace Follow-Up

As previously announced, on the City Council's agenda for its
2005 July 05 meeting was a vote concerning overriding Mayor
Franklin's veto of the Harold Avenue Greenspace resolution.  The
resolution was to earmark $449,254 from the 2004 Quality of Life
Bond Fund to acquire the land from the Conservation Fund (a
nonprofit organization; the current owner of 591, 595, and 601
Harold Ave.) and fund the greenspace.  The override failed due
to a lack of a motion, and the veto stands.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has covered the issue in its
Metro section earlier this week.

As of the sending of this Newscast, the minutes of the July 05
council meeting had not yet been posted on-line.  They should
eventually be available at:
