Proposed Speed Humps for Southerland Terrace
(A message from Ryan Gesser)
In 2004 December, a petition was circulated among Southerland
Terrace property owners to solicit approval or disapproval of
traffic calming measures in the form of four speed humps along
Southerland from DeKalb Avenue to McLendon Avenue. A
description and map of the plan, in addition to a petition for
approval or disapproval was delivered to each residence on the
street.
As of 2005 January 11, support for the plan is unanimous, but
only among the 11 property owners who have responded thus far.
12 additional approvals must be collected for the city to move
forward with the plan. Before the city proceeds with this
project, 75% of the 30 total Southerland terrace property owners
must approve the plan by signing the petition.
Approval of the plan is in jeopardy due to the number of rental
properties on the street, the legal owners of which may not have
received the petition or taken the time to consider the
proposal. It is therefore essential that all legal owners
residing on the street make their opinion known as to whether
the proposal should be approved or disapproved!
The final deadline to submit the petitions to the city is this
coming Tuesday, 2005 January 18. If you or someone you know is
a Sutherland terrace resident that has not yet returned the
petition to Ryan Gesser at 1838 McLendon avenue, please do so
immediately!
Please contact Ryan at 404-840-6132 or mclendon@lakeclaire.org
if you have questions, comments, or can offer support locating
interested Southerland Terrace property owners who have not yet
returned their petition!
