Christmas is Coming; Are Thieves Getting Fat?
------------------------------
In Lake Claire it is an unfortunate fact that thefts increase
during the holiday season. Around 2004 Dec 03, an opened package
was found in a driveway on Almeta that was addressed to a house
on Ridgewood. It had been opened and the contents scattered
about. A neighbor called the police and they responded.
Three Suggestions:
1) If you will be out of town for the holidays, you may want to
fill out a Special Patrol Request Form. It will let patrolling
officers know no one is home at your address, so if they see
someone on your property they can take appropriate action.
Download the "Special Patrol Request" form:
http://www.lakeclaire.org/docs/Special_Patrol_Req.pdf
Fax, mail, hand carry, or call in the information to the Zone Six
Precinct.
2) If you are expecting packages, ask a neighbor to check so the
package can be taken in or not left in view of the street. Also
have someone pick up the mail daily, or have your mail delivery
halted from 3-30 days. Download PS Form 8076, "Authorization to
Hold Mail" form:
http://www.usps.com/forms/_pdf/ps8076.pdf
Please note that this will not stop UPS, DHL, FedEx, et cetera
deliveries.
3) If you are staying home and notice a suspicious person looking
around your or a neighbor's property...
!!! CALL 911 !!!
Note as best you can the height, age, gender, race, clothing,
vehicle, where you last saw the person, and in which direction he
is heading.
