Grant for Lake Claire Park Kudzu Removal

Last Thursday night, LCN made a presentation to the NPU for a
matching grant to fund kudzu (Pueraria lobata) removal in Lake
Claire Park.  Each NPU has been allocated $500 to designate for a
park project.  The presentation went well and we got the
designation of the NPU.  The NPU shall submit the grant request
to Park Pride.  We hope to hear from Park Pride shortly.

We have about $550 in matching funds that have been pledged or
given.  According to the grant application, we need 90% of the
pledged funds in hand before Park Pride releases the $500.

If you pledged, please pick up a pen and write out your check.
(If you have not pledged, please mail in a check anyway).

If you need an incentive, you may buy a $25 Park Pride t-shirt at
the next LCN general meeting (profits to go to the kudzu project,
contact park@lakeclaire.org ahead of time to double check
availability).

This is not a city project, it will be managed directly by Lake
Claire Neighbors.  The $1000 will fund a treatment this year.  It
will also leave a small amount to go toward a second treatment
next year.  But we will need another $550 in donations to
completely fund next year's treatment, so please help out if you
can.
