(This is a follow-up to the Newscast about the fire near Hampton
Terrace and DeKalb Avenue.)
Friends and neighbors,
Last week, 2004 Apr 27 Tuesday, a terrible tragedy struck in Lake
Claire. The Jackson family's house was burned, nearly to the
ground. Both the father and their 12 year-old son were at home
when it occurred, and while they both are alive, both have
suffered serious injuries. The son leapt from a 3rd story window
to escape the smoke and fire. Tragically, their dog was lost in
the blaze. After 24 years in the Lake Claire neighborhood, the
Jacksons are trying to rebuild their lives.
The Jackson family literally own just the clothes on their backs
at this moment, and your generosity will assist in helping this
Lake Claire family get back on their feet. Financial support can
be sent by check or money order to:
The Atlanta Community ToolBank
ATTN: The Jackson Family Relief Fund
55 Ormond St SE
Atlanta GA 30315-1511
(Please note that while financial support is greatly appreciated,
it is not tax-deductible.)
Additionally, clothing and household items are needed to help the
Jacksons, and new or 'gently used' items will help once the
father and son are released from the hospital and they relocate
temporarily to a nearby apartment in the next few days.
