Three Announcements:
+ Sevenanda
+ Softball
+ Do-Not-Call

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Sevenanda Donations to Mary Lin Elementary

Mary Lin is the Community Change Organization this October at
Sevenanda Co-op (467 Moreland Ave. in L5P). Everyone who shops
for groceries at Sevenanda during October will have an opportunity
to donate to Mary Lin by adding an amount onto his purchase price
at the register. At the end of the month, Sevenanda matches these
donations by 25% and sends the money to Mary Lin! The money is
earmarked to be used towards new trees on the school grounds,
primarily around the new playground and soccer fields.

There is a bulletin board right by the registers that tells about
our school--please check it out when you have a chance.

A big thanks to Sevenanda for supporting Mary Lin!

Lake Claire vs. Candler Park Softball Challenge

Eric Dusenbury of Candler Park is looking to organize a softball
game against Lake Claire as soon as possible. If any Lakers or
Claires out there are interested in organizing/coaching a
neighborhood team, please contact Mr. Dusenburg at
edusenbu@aglresources.com to make arrangements.

Further announcements will be made via Newscast if the challenge
proceeds.

Suggested (but not yet negotiated) fruits of victory include
brewed beverages for the winner and bragging rights to Clifton
Road. This last one is a low-risk proposition for Lake Claire,
as we only claim half of a couple intersections where the
buildings face the cross streets rather than Clifton itself.

Georgia/Federal Do-Not-Call Lists

For several years Georgia has maintained a Do-Not-Call registry
for residents who want to block telemarketers. With the recent
introduction of a federal Do-Not-Call registry, the state has
changed how it administers its own list.

Previously, one paid a nominal fee to be added to the Georgia
list for two years. The federal list lasts 5 years and is FREE.

Georgia has done away with its own individual registry system.
Instead anyone who signs up a Georgia telephone number to the
federal registry is automatically added to the state list. This
means that the more restrictive elements of both the state and
federal regulations apply to telemarketers, and if a court finds
a flaw in one program, the other still governs. Those previously
on the state list should automatically have been registered to
the federal list earlier this month.

To sign up for the federal Do-Not-Call list, to remove your
number from the list, or to see if your registry has been already
added by the state, go to:
                 http://www.donotcall.gov/

It just takes a couple minutes to sign up, then you have to check
your e-mail and click a link to verify within 72 hours. You can
do three numbers (those cell phones!) at one time. Companies
have three months to stop calling.
