Dear Neighbors,

Here is a follow-up to today's (Oct. 11) yard waste saga...

I went to the Dept. of Public Works, Solid Waste Services, today to find out
why the City missed it's "week of the first Monday" pickup in Lake Claire.
The department claimed that the new policy does not start until the week
of October 14--and all their printed public announcements have this date.
However, the on-line press release
(http://www.ci.atlanta.ga.us/homepage/PressReleases/rubcht.pdf) continues
to give October 7 as the start date. It seems that either the City moved
the launch of the new policy, or the web contains a draft version of the
policy. In any case, 5 or 6 weeks is too long between pickups.

After visited public works I went to Councilor Archibong's office. She
saw to it that the City sent a collection truck to our area today, and we
thank her for the assistance. Much of the yard waste was picked up today,
although I did still see some bags uncollected, and larger piles of
branches are untouched. These piles may continue to be a problem, as
neighbors have told me that they have attempted many times to schedule
pickups, but have been unable to get through to anybody at the new number.

Thank you for your patience and help today. Hopefully we will get the
matter of these larger piles taken care of.
