Dear Neighbor:

I am asking your help to force the city to address its failure to implement
the September 16 new Yard Waste and Rubbish Policy. Under the terms of that
policy, those with a Monday or Tuesday trash pick-up day should have a
yard waste pick-up during the weeks of the first and third Monday of every
month. For much of the neighborhood, that means that your yard waste bags
(that in many cases have been sitting on the curb for a month) should have
been picked up already this week, but have not been.

This is a particular problem because our biannual fund raiser, the Tour of
Funky Homes and Gardens, is scheduled for this Sunday.

As your president, I apologize for not being more tenacious with the city;
I foolishly believed that the policy would be implemented. Now I ask for
your help in petitioning the City to follow through on its new policy.

If you can today (October 11), call the Dept. of Public Works (404) 330-6236
and the Mayor's Office (404) 330-6100 and state the following:

- Your trash pick-up day is Monday or Tuesday, so your yard waste
should have been picked up this week.
- You want every branch and bag picked up by the end of TODAY, both on
your block and the neighborhood as a whole.
- State approximately how long it has been since the last pick up, and
that you have been waiting patiently for the new policy to be
implemented (beginning Oct. 7), but you are fed up now.
- Remind them of the public safety hazards involved: obstructed sidewalks
  and blocked sight-lines at intersections.

If you feel inclined to go to City Hall in person, the address is 55 Trinity
Ave., Public Works is in Suite 4700.

Together, hopefully we can get some action. Thank you.
