Please attend a Public Hearing and learn about the proposed
solution to fix Atlanta's sewer problems. The meeting will
be on Wednesday, August 29, at 7:00 pm. The location is at
Zoo Atlanta, The Coca-Cola World Studio, "The ARC", at 800
Cherokee Ave.
Here's why it is so important!!!!
The proposed solution for solving the City's sewer problems
has been authorized for implementation by the EPA/EPD. The
solution calls for a $3.4 billion project which, in part,
includes a $1billion first phase of building storage tunnels
and separating 27% of the combined sewers in the older areas
of the city. The consultants have now begun the more
detailed preliminary engineering study to obtain better cost
information for the proposed plan. Complete separation with
greenway projects for stormwater treatment had been excluded
as an option for detailed study.
Through citizen involvement at the three previous public
hearings, the city has agreed to also perform preliminary
engineering for complete separation. In so doing, a
comparison of both plans, using similar detailed information
can be performed.
Broad citizen attendance and support is encouraged at the
upcoming hearing at Zoo Atlanta in order to assure an
opportunity for citizen involvement and overview of the two
studies before they are submitted to EPA and EPD.
