PEDS Slow-Down Day
On March 22nd from 7:30 to 9:30 am Lake Claire will be participating in the
PEDS neighborhood slow down. Most of the other neighborhoods are doing it
in the afternoon but since our worst traffic problems are in the morning
(with Mary Lin being the hot spot) we are doing the morning shift.
We need people who can drive around for an hour or so, at the speed limit,
in the neighborhood. We will have signs attached to our cars saying
something to the effect of "This neighborhood slow down brought to you by
Lake Claire Neighbors and PEDS". We will also need a few folks at cross
walks holding signs that say "Yield to Pedestrians in the Crosswalk". (The
most crucial intersections are Clifton-at-McLendon and McLendon and Candler
Park Drive).
Even if you can only spare half an hour, please think about doing this for
the walkers in our neighborhood. If any of you doubt the necessity of
this, please walk down McLendon Ave. at 7:30 any weekday morning and
observe how fast folks drive. We are a popular cut-through from Ponce (via
285) and many drivers still drive as though they are on the highway.
We need a rough head-count by Friday so please email Susan Beeching
(sbeechin@tuckfed.com) or call her at 770-724-8775 (Daytime) or
404-371-1239 (evening).
